Michael Akusu Jr.
Michael is a Project Manager certified by the International Project Management Professionals (IPMP). He obtained is Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Diplomacy from Veritas University, Abuja (The Catholic University of Nigeria) in 2012 before proceeding for his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) during which he
worked in the Office of the Human and Personnel Manager (HPM) at Nwangele Local Government Council Imo State.
The one-year service to fatherland afforded Michael the opportunity to participate actively in the Millennium Development Goals Advocacy Project as a Development Knowledge Facilitator. He served as a voluntary Government, Civic Education and Business Studies teacher at a nearby secondary school and sensitized students and members of his host community on the relevance of the MDGs for sustainable development.
Michael also served as a Field Enumerator for the United Nations ‘MY WORLD’ survey in 2013 and received an award certificate for the MDGs Advocacy Programme; as well as a Letter of Commendation from the United Nations.
He has attended various conferences including the Students Economic Forum held in April 2011 at Benson Idahosa University, Benin City, Edo State; and in 2012 at the National Press Centre, Abuja In 2008 he was listed on EDUMARK’s Roll Call of Honour for the graduating class of 2008 for Secondary Schools in Nigeria.
During his days at the university, Michael was a pioneer member of the Veritas Book Club and the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Press Club (2010 – 2012). He is delighted about the prospect of helping Omafuru Foundation impact lives through the promotion of academic excellence and social norms.
