On the 3rd of March, 2016, the entire marked World Book Day, a day set aside to enlighten people, especially the younger generation, on the importance of reading among others.
Being an organization committed to addressing the poor reading culture in this part of the world and encouraging hardwork among young people, Omafuru Foundation marked the day by visiting two schools – St. Michael Schools, DSC, Orhuwhorun and DSC Technical High School, Orhuwhorun, Warri – in Delta State.
At both schools, members of staff of the Omafuru Foundation enlightened the young students on the importance of reading and buying books as a way of securing a bright future for themselves. As a way of encouraging the students to form the habit of buying books and spending money wisely for their academic benefits, the foundation sold books to the students at a discount rate of fifty percent (50%). The management, staff and students of both schools appreciated Omafuru Foundation for the wonderful initiative and expressed delight at the rare opportunity given to them.
Students turned out in large numbers to take advantage of the discount sale on books and the enlightenment talks given to them. Please visit our official website ‘www.omafurufoundation.org’ to view more pictures and information from this event.
